British musician Chris Hardman's death was caused by hanging, according to an inquest. Hardman was a pop-rock singer-songwriter better known as Lil' Chris.
Lil' Chris was found dead at his home in Lowestoft, Suffolk on Mar. 23. His family has said that the 24-year-old suffered from depression and mental health issues. A full hearing has been adjourned until a later date, according to the BBC .
The performer was best known for rising to fame on the U.K. series Rock School. He later signed with RCA Records and released two albums, a self-titled release in 2006 and What's It All About in 2008. He also appeared in the musical
Loserville.
Following his death, his family released a statement. In it, they called the late artist a "huge personality who will be missed by everyone who knew him."
"He was a hugely creative person who used this side of his personality to make others smile, to cheer people up and to make others feel better," the statement continued. "A real people person, he would always take the time to stop and talk, no matter who or when and we are proud that he was so well thought of by all who knew him."
A funeral was held earlier this month in Gorleston, Norfolk.
