Attorneys representing King’s designated executor, LaVerne Toney, have filed documents in a Nevada court to refute allegations that King family members were kept away from the musician in his dying days. The documents also reject claims that King was mistreated medically and that his finances were siphoned off before he passed away on May 14 in Las Vegas. “We’re asking the probate commissioner to approve (Toney) as executor and personal representative of the estate,” attorney Brent Bryson said on Monday. “The spurious and unjustified allegations made against Ms. Toney by Patty King, Karen Williams and Larissa Drohobyczer will be dealt with at a later time,” he added. Police sniper shoots suspect in attack on Dallas cops

DALLAS -- A sniper shot a cornered suspect in an overnight attack on Dallas police headquarters, and authorities were checking Saturday to see if he was alive or dead but believed that he was dead, the police chief said. The police sniper shot the man following a standoff of several hours in a restaurant parking lot in the suburb of Hutchins, where he had fled in a van after the early-morning shootout outside of police headquarters near downtown Dallas, Chief David Brown said at a news conference. Investigators found a package containing pipe bombs near the headquarters building and the suspect told police negotiators that he had "C4" explosives in the van, Brown said. The chief said police were using a camera-equipped robot to inspect the van and to try to determine if the suspect was alive or dead.
